THE PERSON BEHIND THE BRAND

Hey, I’m Mel.

Small-town Wisconsin girl. 20+ years in marketing & events, 12+ in merch, and convinced every event deserves a better story.

20+ years in the making.

My career started in marketing and never really left. Over 20+ years I've worked across nonprofits, the promotional products industry, and agriculture. I've been a Senior Marketing and Events Manager for nonprofits. I've been the North America Marketing Manager for a top supplier in the promo industry. I've held senior marketing and experiential roles at two of the top distributor buying groups in the space and I've purchased merch for the third largest seed corn company in the US.

All of that taught me one big thing: I know branded merchandise and experiential events inside and out because I've sat on every side of the table. Along the way, I kept running into walls. I'd pitch creative ideas and get told no. Too different. Too risky. Not how we do things.

When I went to work at the seed corn company, my boss told me something I never forgot: "You know all those things people always told you no about? We're going to do all of those things." And we did.

I left the corporate world because I wanted less "this is how we've always done it" and more "what if we tried this instead." Everywhere I went, I’ve seen the same gap. Organizations pour money into events that look fine on paper but don't make anyone feel anything. The creative strategy was often missing. So I built Moments + Merch to fill it.

You know all those things people always told you no about? We’re going to do all of those things.

When I’m not thinking about events

I live in Wisconsin with my husband Jesse, our twin boys, and our daughter. If I’m not on the bleachers at a baseball game for my twins or in an auditorium watching my daughter dance, you can usually find me at the family cabin, at my parents' farm, or watching the Brewers and Packers (sometimes both in the same weekend). I recently lost my best friend Larry, my almost 15-year-old yellow lab who was the best coworker I ever had. He supervised every project and never once missed a deadline…I guess I’m on my own now!

My friends call me Mel. You can too.
